Dearman on Strike King's Quad Shad Spinner Bait

Editor's Note: Fifty-three-year-old Randy Dearman of Onalaska, Texas, has fished professionally since 1983. He has fished in the BASS Master's Classic seven times, as well as achieving numerous top-10 wins across the country. Dearman works as part of Strike King's pro-fishing team.

Question: What's your second favorite Strike King lure?

Dearman: I would have to say Strike King's Quad Shad spinner bait with four blades. It looks like a whole school of shad coming through the water. It has become my favorite spinner bait to throw when the fish are biting the bait up high, and you can reel fast.

Question: Where do you throw this lure?

Dearman: I've caught bass everywhere from open water -- where the smallmouth sometimes will be out 15 to 25 feet of water -- to buzzing this bait real fast. It seems like when they want a bait going real fast, this is a really good bait to throw. It has so much flash to it. We fish it around grass, logs and everything. It has become my favorite spinner bait to throw.

Question: What kind of trailer are you using with it?

Dearman: Most of the time, I don't fish a trailer. I think if it requires putting a trailer on to get a bite then there is probably another bait the bass will bite better. I think the flash is what they are coming to more than anything else. With enough flash and vibration, I don't think you have to add anything to it.
