More of Dearman's Favorite Strike King Lures
Editor's Note: Fifty-three-year-old Randy Dearman of Onalaska, Texas, has fished professionally since 1983. He has fished in the BASS Master's Classic seven times, as well as achieving numerous top-10 wins across the country. Dearman works as part of Strike King's pro-fishing team.
Question: What kind of crankbait do you use?
Dearman: A Strike King Series 1 crankbait has probably become my best all-around crankbait. It'll dive a 5-foot maximum depth. I fish it around boat docks, lay-downs, anything. The bait works all over the country. I've caught bass all the way up in Lake Champlain, in Vermont, and all the way down to Lake Livingston, where I live in Texas. It is just an all-around crankbait. It is not one of the deeper ones, but as far as catching numbers and limits of fish, the Strike King Series 1 has become my favorite crankbait.
Question: What is your favorite color and why?
Dearman: Chartreuse-and-blue, because I catch more fish on it. It's a color that works in clear water or dirty water. It doesn't matter what color the water is; the chartreuse-and-blue really works well.
Question: So you are always going to have this color tied on?
Dearman: That is my number-one choice.
