Premier Pro-Glo Spinner Bait
Editor's Note: Larry Nixon, of Bee Branch, Arkansas, won the 1983 Bass Masters Classic and has had almost 100 top-10 finishes. He has won the Angler-Of-The-Year title twice.
I’ve found that the Premier Pro-Glo Model spinner bait works well on dark, cloudy, rainy days or when I’m fishing off-colored water and need more visibility in the skirt. The skirt on this spinner bait puts out more light on dark days than an ordinary skirt does. My favorite version of this lure is the ½-ounce. I prefer a 4-1/2-inch Indiana blade on the back of the tandem spin.
I enjoy fishing this spinner bait down deep where I can’t see it. I believe it gives off more vibration and light than other spinner baits. I fish it on 17- to 20-pound Trilene XT. The 17-pound-test line will cast further and go deeper than 20-pound-test line. However, if I’m fishing around rocks or cover, I’ll give up the depth and distance for the strength of 20-pound-test line.
Another good time to use this bait is early in the morning when the sun first comes up. If you are out on the lake on a bright sunny day and a thunderstorm rolls in, the sky darkens, and rain starts coming down, change to a Premier Pro-Glo spinner bait to catch more fish. Just remember, in dark skies, stained water, deep water or when night fishing, the Premier Pro-Glo Spinner bait will pay bass dividends for you.
