The best way to tune a buzzbait is to make sure the shaft the blade is on is perfectly in line with the point of the hook. If you bang your buzzbait on logs and rocks and bend the wire just slightly, the buzzbait may not run properly. Always check your Strike King Double Wing Pro-Buzz buzzbait. If it isn’t running straight, see if the arm holding the blade is bent slightly off-center.

Always remember, most buzzbaits have torque -- running to the right or to the left -- and this cannot be tuned out of the buzzbait. I like torque in a buzzbait because if I throw the Double Wing Pro-Buzz to the right side of the target, the bait torques to the left. Then, as I bring the buzzbait by the target, I can actually crash it into the target and start my retrieve again.

If the buzzbait runs to the right, I cast it to the left of the target, so it will run to the right and hit the target. Then I can start the retrieve again.I have found that one of the best ways to catch fish with a buzzbait is to crash it into the target. The bait’s torque helps you to crash the bait into the target where you think the bass is holding. The larger a buzzbait’s blades, the more torque it will have.

Remember – don’t fool with the bend in the cup of the blades on your buzzbait. I make the buzzbait squeal as it comes through the water by bending it so the backside of the blade rubs on an edge rather than a smooth surface. A long time ago, I learned that squeaky buzzbaits catch more bass than quiet buzzbaits do. When I modify the Strike King Double Wing Pro-Buzz Buzzbait, I always modify it so it will squeak. If take this bait out of the box, it doesn’t squeak at all.

I always use a trailer hook on my buzzbait. I like the Strike King’s small trailer hook. Most trailer hooks have a long shaft, but I prefer a short-shaft trailer hook. If I need more length on my trailer hook, I’ll add another trailer hook and use two instead of one.
