Chad Brauer on How to Fish with the Best Lures Available

Why Wear Sunglasses While Fishing

Chad BrauerEditor's Note: Thirty-year-old Chad Brauer of Osage Beach, Missouri, doesn't know what life without bass fishing would be like. He grew up in the shadow of his father, professional bass-fisherman Denny Brauer. But Chad has begun to cast his own shadow in the world of bass fishing. He is one of the most-respected young fishermen on the tournament circuit trail and is definitely part of the future of bass fishing.

Brauer: The most obvious reason for wearing sunglasses is for your eyes’ protection. Fishing doesn’t seem dangerous, but you have to protect your eyes from the glare of the sun. Polarized sunglasses like those Strike King makes allow you to see deeper into the water.

Strike King Lure There are some advantages to wearing polarized sunglasses. In clear water, when the fish are spawning, these sunglasses make seeing the bass and your bait easier. When you use the spinner bait and other subsurface baits, you’ll be able to see the lures working deeper in the water because of the glasses.

I really believe the Strike King sunglasses enable you to see more effectively, watch your lure better, see the color beneath the surface and therefore get more strikes. But still, the most-important reason to wear sunglasses is for protection. When you are fishing top-water baits, baits can come flying at you. You always need to have your eyes protected.
