Mike Wurm - Lures That Got Me To The Classic
3X Finesse Worm
Editor's Note: Mike Wurm, a 51-year-old angler from Hot Springs, Arkansas, first fished competitively in 1978 and began on the Bassmasters Circuit in 1992. He has one win and 11 top-10 finishes in his career. This year he qualified for his seventh Bassmasters Classic.
Wurm: I have also relied on the 3X Finesse Worm this year. I like to Carolina-rig this lure. While fishing the Harris chain of lakes, the 3X lure was my main weapon. The Harris chain of lakes consists of a couple of lakes chained together with a canal. The lake had a clean bottom so there wasn't much structure to fish.
Finally on Lake Houston, I found three little banks that had some grass growing on them. I used the 3X Finesse Worm. Those three stretches produced all my fish for the first two days. I used only two worms during the whole tournament because they’re so tough. Usually I have to change worms after every fish I catch.
