Shaw Grigsby's Tournament Equipment Must-Haves
How I Get Ready With A Partner In A Tournament
Editor's Note: Shaw Grigsby of Gainesville, Florida, has qualified for his tenth Bassmasters Classic. Grigsby has won 8 B.A.S.S. tournaments since turning pro in 1984. Shaw also has 40 top-10 finishes and has won the gold medal for bass fishing in ESPN's Great Outdoor Games.
Grigsby: All the tournaments now are generally Pro-Am or there's a non-boater with us. I'll fill my partner in on what I'm catching the fish on, so he knows what rods and reels to bring. But, I don't tell him where I'm catching the fish because I don't think that's a necessity. There's really not a lot to do in order to get ready, except to make sure we're going to be comfortable and try to cull his tackle down so he won't overload the boat.
I do want to mention a subject very important to me and anyone who fishes for bass in Florida. Please e-mail the governor of Florida and tell him not to veto the Rodman Preserve Bill. It would be a shame to tear down such an awesome fishing resource. Rodman Reservoir probably has the best bass fishing and is the most-consistent lake in the state of Florida.
