Mark Davis - How To Get Ready For A Tournament

Packing For A Tournament

Editor's Note: Mark Davis, of Mount Ida, Arkansas, is ranked third by www.bassfan.com. He won the Angler-of-the-Year title in 1995, 1998 and 2001 and the 1995 BASS Masters Classic.

Question: When you’re preparing for a tournament, what do you pack into your truck for your trip?

Davis: The key is organization. I go through all of my tackle and everything else I have. I organize everything I can possibly need to take with me in my boat.

Question: Is it fair to say that you can climb into your boat and find a spinner bait, a crankbait, a sinker or a hook?

Davis: Very fair. Knowing what you don't have in your boat is more important to my way of thinking than to know what you have in your boat. If the fish are biting a certain type of lure, and then you’ll know that you don't have that lure, you know you have to get one. A mental inventory is very vital. To fish well and do well, for me, I need all of my equipment to perform perfectly.
