Getting Ready At The Tournament Site
Editor's Note: Mark Davis, of Mount Ida, Arkansas, is ranked third by www.bassfan.com. He won the Angler-of-the-Year title in 1995, 1998 and 2001 and the 1995 BASS Masters Classic.
Question: What do you do to get ready for a tournament once you’re at the lake where it’s being held?
Davis: I get my Lowrance GPS and a good map ready to go.
Question: How important is the GPS information to you?
Davis: A GPS and a map are very important to my bass-fishing success on the bigger lakes.
Question: What happens first when you arrive at the lake?
Davis: The first thing I want to know when I arrive at a lake is what the clarity of the water is and what the water’s temperature is. I’ll make a trip around the lake to find the muddy water and to find the clear water. I also look to see what the lake has in terms of cover, food and habitat.
