November Bass Fishing with George Cochran

Editor’s Note: George Cochran has won over $1 million on the B.A.S.S. circuit and is just shy of winning $1 million on the FLW circuit. He’s a quiet, gentle man who doesn’t get too excited. He talks and fishes slowly and isn’t extremely versatile, which he’ll tell you himself. But he catches bass, wins money and wins the big tournaments. Cochran’s primarily a shallow-water fisherman, and this week, we’ve asked Cochran where he’ll fish and how he’ll find bass during the month of November.

Part 3: Mr. Money

George CochranDon’t forget the spinner bait this month. There’s a new spinner bait that I helped design for Strike King called, Mr. Money. The reason we named it Mr. Money is because I’ve made a ton of money fishing this spinner bait. The lure is a 3/16-ounce spinner bait and in 2006, Strike King added the Perfect Skirt to it. Even though the Mr. Money is a small-profile spinner bait, with the Perfect Skirt on it, it looks like a 3- or a 4-inch shad, which is the typical size bait the bass will be feeding on in November. The only time I don’t use the Perfect Skirt on the Mr. Money spinner bait is when the bass are feeding on little tiny 1- to 1-1/2-inch shad.

Largemouth Bass and Strike King SpinnerbaitI catch plenty of bass during the month of November on this little spinner bait. If I’m fishing on a cloudy day, I like the Mr. Money in black. I catch a lot of bass during November, even in the middle of the day, on a black spinner bait. If I’m fishing on a clear day, I’ll be fishing chartreuse and white. But the Mr. Money spinner bait, because of its size, often doesn’t get a lot of respect from serious bass fishermen. I promise you that this little spinner bait will put bass in your boat and money in your pocket if you’re fishing a tournament.
