The University of Alabama Crimson Tide Bass Anglers (CTBA)The University of Alabama can use the CTBA as a recruiting tool to attract students. At the 2007 Bassmaster Classic in Birmingham, Aul and other members of the team mentioned that high-school students had approached them about the possibility of attending the University of Alabama and competing on the bass-fishing team.

"We have a great program at the University of Alabama for students who want to come to college, compete in bass-fishing, learn how to become better fishermen and fishing pros, get sponsors, work with sponsors and gain experience in the bass-fishing industry while getting an education," Jeff Aul of Daleville, Alabama, the CTBA’s top fisherman, reports. “One day, college bass teams will be on the same level as college football, baseball and basketball; or, at least, I hope that will be true.”
