Being Behind and In Front of the Camera with Strike King’s Kelly Gotch
Editor’s Note: Kelly Gotch, one of the newest members of the Strike King family and co-host of the “Step Outside” TV show on the Outdoor Channel produced in partnership with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), will host “The Guide Series with Kelly Gotch,” produced by SchaZam Productions, premiering on the Pursuit Channel in July 2009. For the past 3-1/2-years, Gotch has hosted and produced “Michigan Out-of-Doors,” one of the first outdoor TV shows in the nation that actually began in the 1950s.
Part 2: An Angler and a Hunter
Question: Kelly, on the show, will you hunt as well as fish?
Gotch: “The Guide Series” is a hunting show with several fishing episodes.
Question: What types of animals will you hunt on the show?
Gotch: In season one, we’ll hunt elk, white-tailed deer, sea ducks and smallmouth bass on the Niagara River and steelheads on the Manistee River in Michigan.
Question: How did your career in television begin, and what are your greatest outdoor accomplishments?
Gotch: I worked as worked as co-host and associate producer for “Michigan Out-of-Doors” TV show for 3 1/2 years.
I’ve also written several articles for outdoor magazines and appeared on many outdoor magazine covers. I’ve represented the United States as the only female traveling to Poland with our 10-member ice-fishing team. I have also filmed the North American Ice Fishing Championship for the past few years.
