Hengst Comes Out Firing on All Cylinders in WBT Opener
In the first WBT event of 2007, expectations were high as the ladies opened up on Lake Amistad in Del Rio, Texas. Known for its high weights during last years Elite series event, this event would prove to be a little tougher. SKL Pro Staffer Debra Hengst, a San Antonio native came out firing on all cylinders ending the first day in a respectable 17th place. Debra fought back and made her first WBT cut and walked away with a well earned 12th place finish. Debra had 15 fish over 3 days totaling 36.02 earning her just over $1300.00. Debra caught the majority of her fish on a Strike King Zero. Another SKL Pro Staffer and WBT Classic contender, Emily Shaffer also made the cut and finished in 22nd place with 27.07.
Congratulations ladies on a great event.
The ladies will continue their season on Lake Daradenelle in Arkansas March 29-31. For more info on BASS and the Womens Bassmaster Tour WBT go to www.bassmaster.com.
