This app will change the way you capture data, log trip information and ultimately analyze patterns for future trips. Built as a partnership between Strike King Lures and My Code Matters, LLC, this app has a robust offering that will benefit most any angler.

Strike King Lure Company announces the addition of Andy Montgomery of Blacksburg South Carolina to its National team for 2012. At age 29, Andy is a young star on the rise, is very competitive, loves shallow water fishing yet has the ability to adapt to any situation on the water, and has the desire and work ethic to grow in the sport. He is married and being a successful professional fisherman has been a lifelong dream of his. Andy will be fishing the B.A.S.S. Elite Series for his second season after doing well as a rookie last year finishing 9th in the Pride of Georgia tournament on West Point Lake and 6th in the Trokar Battle on the Bayou at Toledo Bend. He is a 5-time FLW Championship Qualifier, a 2011 Bassmaster Classic Qualifier and a 2010 Bassmaster Southern Open Champion. Andy is excited to join the Strike King team and feels that the Company’s vast lure selection and polarized sunglasses will give him the tools he needs to win on the water. He also is attracted to the family-friendly, professional and fishing enthusiasts’ culture of the Company. Andy joins one of the greatest Pro-Staffs in the nation, which includes such veteran stars as Kevin VanDam, Denny Brauer, Shaw Grigsby, Mark Davis, Greg Hackney, Mark Rose, George Cochran, and Mark Menendez and young stars, James Niggemeyer and Jonathon VanDam.

This is just not an ordinary day to go fishing for the Menendez children. Saturday will be the Fourth Annual Menendez Ronald McDonald House Fishing Event.

“This idea came from my wife, Donna,” said Mark Menendez. “She wanted to give back to the Ronald McDonald after our stay with our son, Max. He is a healthy and happy five- year old. We were sent to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville, KY, immediately after Max was born. Our son was going to be fine.” recalled Menendez.

“We split the difference on the children’s birthdays and invited all of their friends for a fishing party in the family pond. The catch was that there were to be no gifts! We ask that a donation be made to the Ronald McDonald House.” stated Menendez. We are looking to host 70 children this year. Each angler will receive a tackle pack and fishing hat from Strike King Lure Company. They will also receive a gift card for a cheeseburger from our local McDonald restaurant.

“Our hope is to help other families in their time of need. We will never forget our time at the Ronald McDonald House. We are truly grateful for a resource such as this,” said Donna Menendez.

Sioux Falls, SD – Hunting and angling interests around the country have mobilized in recent years to protect the waters and lands of southwest Alaska’s famed Bristol Bay region. These groups are applauding today’s announcement by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that the agency is planning an assessment of the Bristol Bay watershed to better understand how future large-scale development projects may affect water quality and Bristol Bay’s salmon fishery. EPA initiated this assessment in response to concerns from federally-recognized tribes and others who petitioned the agency in 2010 to assess any potential risks to the watershed.

“The potential development in the region is scary for sportsmen,” said Scott Hed, Director of the Sportsman’s Alliance for Alaska. “Each year anglers and hunters make the trip to Alaska just for an opportunity to fish and hunt in the famous Bristol Bay watershed. Sportsmen and women from across the country have joined forces to stop plans by foreign mining interests that could turn the entire Bristol Bay region into a massive mining district. Today’s announcement by the EPA shows that the agency recognizes the threats posed by the proposed Pebble Mine project, and that it is better to address these very serious concerns up front rather than wait until it may be too late.”

Over 325 sporting groups and businesses oppose the mining plans in Bristol Bay. Sporting conservation groups and trade associations include Dallas Safari Club, Trout Unlimited, Federation of Fly Fishers, European Fishing Tackle Trade Association, Canadian Sportfishing Industry Association, American Fly Fishing Trade Association, American Sportfishing Association, Izaak Walton League of America, Wildlife Forever, Delta Waterfowl Foundation, Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, Bull Moose Sportsman's Alliance, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, North American Fishing Club, North American Hunting Club, and the Campfire Club of America. Some of the most recognizable brands in hunting and fishing products have expressed their wishes to protect Bristol Bay as well, including Sturm, Ruger & Co., Savage Arms, Buck Knives, Hornady, Sitka, Filson, Orvis, Sage, Simms, ExOfficio, Patagonia, Scott, Hardy, and more than 150 others.

“This is an issue that unites the complete spectrum of the sporting community,” continued Hed. “When you have got catch and release anglers and makers of fly rods and reels working in concert with big game hunters and firearm manufacturers, that’s a powerful set of interests – all in agreement that large-scale mining in the Bristol Bay watershed is simply the wrong idea in the wrong place. We look forward to working with the EPA and other decision makers as this public process to determine the fate of Bristol Bay moves forward.”

The stakes are high for sporting interests in southwest Alaska’s Bristol Bay region, an area that is home to the world’s largest wild salmon runs, as well as some of the greatest trophy rainbow trout fishing and remote wilderness hunting on the planet.
