Newton's on a Roll!

Jonathan NewtonLake Champlain - Strike King Pro-Staffer Jonathan Newton from Rogersville, Alabama is flat burning up the water in the last half of the season. Coming off his 2nd Career Ever start win a couple weeks ago on Kentucky Lake, Jonathan fished the FLW Forest Wood Open on Lake Champlain last week and flat wore the small mouth out. "I'm tickled to death for Jonathan," says Chris Brown, Pro-Staff Director for Strike King, "He needed a couple of good finishes to help finish up the regular season events and we are all proud of the effort he has made in these last few tournaments." "I just can't say enough about Jonathan, he is a great guy and a heck of fisherman and I can't tell you how happy I am for Jonathan and his wife Tracy and how thankful I am that he fishes for Strike King."

Using a Strike King Zulu, Jonathan targeted rocky flats in 7-8 feet of water to catch his limit each day. He told bassfan.com ""I didn't do a lot of running around. I spent most of my time fishing." For his efforts Jonathan cashed a check for $50,000.
Hey Jonathan, Can you spare me a few bucks? Only kidding. Congratulations once again to Jonathan Newton, he's an FLW rookie no more!

Martindale & Amerson win 2004 Fishers of Men West Tennessee AOY Race

Martindale & AmersonSelmer Tennessee - Strike King Regional Pro-Staffers Jason Martindale and Keith Amerson show consistency is the key and patience pays off by winning their second Fishers of Men West Tennessee Angler of the Year title in 4 years. "We worked hard at each tournament this year and the good Lord Blessed us by keeping us in the hunt up until the end." Amerson said.

Going into the last tournament of the year the duo held a 1-point lead over the second place team. Using Strike King Titanium Elite Buzz baits, Series 1 and Series 6 crank baits, they were able to pull off a 4th place finish in the final tournament to lock up the points race.

Chris Brown, Pro-Staff Director for Strike King commented, "Keith and Jason have been a part of the Strike King Regional Pro-Staff for almost two years and in that two years they have been two of the hardest working guys on staff. These two are excellent representatives for Strike King and all of us here at Strike King could not be anymore happier and any more proud for them on this accomplishment."

With this behind them, Keith and Jason have qualified to fish the Fishers of Men National Championship slated for early next year. Their next stop will be the Central Regional's in October. Keith will also be fishing the B.A.S.S. Opens this fall.

"Congratulations Guys, Awesome Job and Good Luck in the Championship!"

VanDam Wins Inaugural Elite 50 points Championship

Kevin VanDamPaducah, KY-With the dust beginning to settle on the final BassMaster Elite 50 event of 2004, things are just getting cranked up for Kevin VanDam. With his fifth place finish in Paducah, Kevin becomes the first Bass master Elite 50 Points champ! "These guys are the greatest fishermen in the world, there tough to beat." Kevin told tournament emcee Fish Fishburne on the weight -in stage after BASS announced he had won the point's race.

Kevin finished in the top 12 in all four Elite 50 events this year, qualifying for at least the first cut in every event and for the final cut in 2 of the 4. "Strike King is proud of Kevin and we congratulate him on this achievement. We are also proud of each and every angler we had fishing this series of tournaments, Mark Davis with back to back wins, Denny and Chad Brauer fishing very well with Denny having a heartbreaking fourth place finish in Alabama, and Mike Wurm and George Cochran also having success in the Elite 50's. These guys are the best fisherman in the world and we are proud to have them on the Strike King Pro-Staff."

Next stop for Team Strike King will be Lake Wylie in Charlotte North Carolina. The Bass master Classic will make Charlotte it's home this year and joining Kevin will be Three Time winner on the 2004 Tournament trail Mark Davis, and the Brauer Boys Denny and Chad.

Good Luck Guys, we'll all be cheering for you.

Newton Wins, Newton Wins!!!!!!!!!

Jonathan NewtonSeasoned veteran, but a rookie Strike King Pro-Staffer pulls out all the stops on Kentucky Lake in the final Central Ever start event of the year. Jonathan Newton of Rogersville Alabama topped the field of 200 boats for the second day in a row and pulled off his second career Ever start win! "It feels great," Newton said about the win. "I won on Pick wick last year, but this one means a lot to me because when you looked down the top 20 standings sheet and most anglers were from Kentucky, to have won this tournament is just unbelievable to me. I don't know how I did it, but I did.” Newton told Bassfan.com.

Using a Strike King series 6 Crank bait and Norman DD 22, Jonathan was able to pull off the win and capture his 2nd Ever start win. Jonathan has been a part of the Strike King Pro-Staff since December of last year and has done an awesome job promoting and fishing for Strike King. Congratulations Jonathan, We’re proud of you, keep up the good work and good fishing!!
