Zone 1 – February
Strike King pro Dakota Ebare focuses on the best places to find bass during February in Zone 1.
Ebare expects the water temperatures to be in the 55 to 65 degree range this month. “This tends to be the coldest month of the year in the South,” says Ebare.
Even with the colder weather, bass are getting geared for spring in Zone 1. “Bass will still start to move from winter transition to pre-spawn,” shares Ebare. Ebare suggests looking low to find bass in February. “The drains and depressions closer to spawning areas will be key,” states Ebare.

When fishing in clear or stained water, Ebare prefers Pro Oyster. Pro Siren is his top choice in muddy conditions.
Taking performance to the next level, Strike King’s KVD J300 Elite Jerkbait has a proprietary weight transfer system to maximize casting distance and three premium black nickel hooks to deliver lethal action every time.
He opts for Pro Blue in clear water, and switches to Chartreuse Sexy Shad if the water is stained. In muddy water, Ebare prefers Pro Bone.
Known to have the perfect combination of roll, wiggle, and flash, the KVD J300 has increased castability, 3D eyes, and premium black nickel hooks, resulting in lethal action.
Paired with a Strike King Rage Menace trailer, he will throw a Green Pumpkin Rattling Thunder Cricket in clear water and switch to Bluegill in stained water. In more muddy water Ebare uses Fire Craw.
Designed to be the ultimate jig for skipping under docks, Strike King Rattling Thunder Cricket is built with a a hybrid rattling blade for amplified sound and unparalleled action to attract more strikes in any water condition.
