Best Trailers to Use on a Swim Jig

One of my favorite ways to catch bass is with a swim jig. My go-to heavy cover swim jig is the Strike King Hack Attack Heavy Cover Swim Jig. What makes it a heavy cover swim jig is the fiber weed guard and heavy hook which keep it from getting hung up.

I always put a trailer when fishing a jig, especially a swim jig, and these are my top three.

Strike King Rage Menace Grub

I love the Rage Menace Grub because the Rage Tail really kicks and has a lot of action. The profile and design of the grub allows it to come through the water at a good clip, kicking around, making the fish think they're about to eat a bluegill.

Strike King Rage Craw

The Rage Craw kicks really hard, moves a lot of water, and gives a more aggressive stance. This draws a lot of attention as it moves through the water.

Sometimes the fish are looking for something that has a lot of appearance and action.

Strike King Swim'n Caffeine Shad

There are times when the fish are hungry for something with a smaller profile, something slenderer that glides through the water. That is when I throw a swimming minnow.

The boot tail wiggling behind imitates a more subdued look as it moves through the water.

Almost every time I fish a swim jig, I take into consideration all the unexpected conditions. I bring different color patterns, sizes, and models. Regularly changing my rig allows me to learn what the fish are looking for.
